Week 9 – “Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles”
C. Wood (£3.5m) and B. Mbuemo (£3.9m) top score in this week’s Team of the Week – the in form Wood gets Star Player of the Week courtesy of his cheaper price tag. The better value Palace defence takes a clean sweep of the defensive positions, with only Palace and Man City keeping clean sheets this weekend.
A couple of changes to the Team of the Season, J. Bowen (£5.3m) makes his first appearance this season, whilst B. Mbuemo (£3.9m) reclaims his spot up front displacing N. Jackson (£4.0m).
The highest points scorer spots are now definitively filled by Strikers:-
8 out of the top 11 positions are occupied by Strikers, E. Haaland (£8.5m) was back to scoring ways this week and M. Salah (£7.2m) notched also.
After these two there are a selection of good options for your third Striker spot (or even 2 of your 3 striker spots, were you minded to risk leaving out Haaland or Salah to spend money elsewhere…)
Closely following the already mentioned B. Mbuemo (£3.9m), N. Jackson (£4.0m) and C. Wood (£3.5m) are D. Welbeck (£3.4m) and O. Watkins (£5.7m) with L. Diaz (£5.1m) still hanging in there.
Bearing in mind Attacking Midfielders (who could arguably have been classified as Forwards?) – C. Palmer (£5.8m), B. Saka (£5.8m) and J. Bowen (£5.3m) occupy the 3 other spots, I think its safe to say the Goal-scorers have definitely taken over the game at this first quarter junction…
Checking the very recent Form on the Player Stats Portal :-
We can see all these Strikers (and Palmer, Saka and Bowen) leading the Form Rank, although interestingly E. Haaland (£8.5m) is still missing.
Alongside the usual names we’ve picked out two keepers, M. Sels (£3.2m) and J. Pickford (£3.7m) who are in good form and also, good old journeyman!, A. Young (£2.5m) who offers attacking points potential (he’s got 3 assists in the last 5 games!) alongside clean sheets.
F. Buonanotte (£3.1m) offers an interesting alternative to the possibly injured D. McNeil (£3.4m) :-
We’ve also picked out M. Damsgaard (£3.7m) amongst the cheaper Midfield options but, Ashley Young looks to be a very good option there at just £2.5m…
Of course, we mustn’t forget to keep an eye on the forthcoming fixtures:-
Leicester and Everton both have a decent run, Brentford’s is not too bad either…
And finally, back to our blog title – “Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles” – this quote was from Sir Alex Ferguson… in context of the game Fantasy Football, we would certainly agree with him …. 😊
