Week 10 – Plenty of Wood in the Forest
More clean sheets, big points hauls for Spurs and Nottingham Forest and great victories for Bournemouth and Newcastle is basically the story of Week 10…. and ANOTHER ‘blank’ week for the mis-firing Erling Haaland… !!
E. Haaland (£8.5m) is just about holding onto his status as highest points scorer (74) but he now has M. Salah (£7.2m) – 70 points and C. Palmer (£5.8m) – 69 points breathing down his neck….
Perhaps by next week we’ll have our first new Star Player of the Season since D. Welbeck (£3.4m) in Week 1?
Star player of the Week goes to D. Solanke (£4.4m) who hauled two goals and an assist in Spurs’ 4-1 victory over Villa.
Three clean sheets this week, achieved by cheaper and goal/assist scoring defenders O. Aina (£2.4m) and A. Moreno (£2.9m) from Forest, Southampton and Newcastle, has led to the first 5-4-1 formation of the season for Week 10’s Team of the Week.
A few changes to the Team of the Season – M. Sels (£3.2m) and C. Wood (£3.5m), both of Forest, make their debuts, displacing A. Onana (£4.1m) and B. Mbuemo (£3.9m) respectively.
Chris Wood is now the fourth highest points scorer in the game ! with only 6% of gamers currently owning him…. ! J. Maddison (£5.2m) also returns, replacing D. McNeil (£3.4m).
Forest and Spurs have both jumped up places in the Team Overview, as always all reports available on the Player Stats Portal:-
With Spurs in the top 5 of all metrics, topping the Assists chart. Forest it would seem are all about their defence with just 7 goals conceded and of course the very consistent goals from C. Wood (£3.5m)
We would spend some time analysing the players from Forest more thoroughly, BUT…. they have the hardest run of fixtures now of all the teams, including trips to Arsenal, City and Man Utd:-
so, basically we ‘won’t’ bother ! 😂
Spurs on the other hand have a much better set of forthcoming fixtures including Ipswich at home up next so, their players would be worthy of consideration.
Tottenham’s better form has increased from Week 5 onwards:-
with the points mainly coming from their attacking options although G. Vicario (£3.3m) has also notched 21 points in the last 6 games.
D. Solanke (£4.4m) and B. Johnson (£3.6m) are the best performing and cheapest players to bring in, although J. Maddison (£5.2m) whilst expensive, does give you a non-Striker option…
Final thought for this blog – let’s have a quick look at options for the two teams with the easiest set of fixtures…. those being Wolves and Bournemouth… :-
Of the strikers – M. Cunha (£3.6m) and J. Strand Larsen (£2.8m) of Wolves, Evanilson (£3.8m) and A. Semenyo (£2.8m) of Bournemouth are the best options, Larsen and Semenyo in particular representing superb value for money.
That said, cheap points scoring strikers are in abundance it would seem this year 😂 so, perhaps the Midfielders of M. Lemina (£3.0m) and J. Gomes (£2.9m) of Wolves and L. Cook (£2.8m) or M. Tavernier (£2.8m) of Bournemouth are worth considering…
Lemina of course spent weeks 3 to 5 in the Team of the Season, what can he achieve with a now easier run of fixtures….?
And if Bournemouth can beat both Arsenal and City at home, what can they achieve from theoretically easier fixtures……..?!
