Week 19 – Where Eagles Despair

Title courtesy of the Sun newspaper 😆 – another double game week, Premier League and FA Cup Third Round action this time, the anticipated heavy rotation of players (and/or surprise losses i.e. cup holders Crystal Palace !! 😯) has led to a less familiar Team of the Week :-

with J. Strand Larsen (£3.0m) and H. Barnes (£4.4m) top scoring, each with a whopping 24 points. 24 points is actually only the second highest weekly score – D. Gomez (£2.6m) of Brighton scored 26 points in week 6.

Manchester (115 charges) City must have spread the points around in their 10-1 demolition of poor old Exeter as only R. Lewis (£3.6m) appears from them, although A. Semenyo (£3.1m) would have appeared with 19 points scored but, these were split between Bournemouth and City so, the system has ignored him ! 😆 All points must be scored for the same team !

Team of the Season and the still injured D. Munoz (£3.7m) is replaced by G. Magahlaes (£4.5m) with mis-firing P. Foden (£5.4m), D. Gomez (£2.6m) and D. Rice (£4.8m) being replaced by in-form H. Wilson (£2.9m) and M. Rogers (£3.8m) and fit again B. Fernandes (£6.4m).

The fixtures continue to come in thick and fast, starting with Double Game weeks for the Carabao Cup Semi-finalists:-

Sunderland and West Ham are two teams who have a favourable fixture run despite having two fixtures less than the four Carabao Cup semi-finalists ! Cheap, Team of the Season keeper R. Roefs (£2.6m) may be worth switching to now, were you to be in need of the funds elsewhere…

Back from injury and into the Team of the Season, G. Magahlaes (£4.5m) has been brought in by a whopping 9% of gamers this week :-

with gamers giving up on J. Mateta (£4.2m), P. Foden (£5.4m) and E. Eze (£4.6m) :-

The cup player rotations tend to distort the recent form charts a little, some new players to keep an eye on could be N. Collins (£2.8m) of Brentford and, interestingly attacking defender J. Frimpong (£4.4m) who is set for guaranteed minutes now with C. Bradley (£3.6m) ruled out for an extended period.

From the form midfielders we’ve pulled out again cheap City midfielders A. Semenyo (£3.1m) who but for a team change would be top of the 4 week form list !, T. Reijnders (£3.5m), and R. Cherki (£3.5m) but, with ‘Pep Roulette’, who knows which of these will get the most minutes…?

B. Guimaraes (£4.2m) is bang in form and also the highest points scoring midfielder in the game. Finally, F. Wirtz (£5.0m) of Liverpool is finally beginning to justify his massive price tag and could be an interesting differentiator pick, especially with Burnley at home up next for Liverpool….
