Week 11 – Igor Thiago-als (again, sorry ! 😆)

Week 11 – Igor Thiago-als (again, sorry ! 😆)

Another weekend of Premier League twists and turns before we now enter the final inter-lull of 2025.

Aston Villa’s 4-0 thumping of Bournemouth continues their improved form giving them 4 players in the Team of the Week. A penalty save and clean sheet from E. Martinez (£4.0m) means he takes this week’s Player of the Week award.

The Team of the Season formation changes now to a 4-3-3. M. Guehi’s (£3.6m) injury means he drops out of the side as does his team mate and blanking J. Mateta (£4.2m) who is level on points and price ! with his replacement B. Mbuemo (£4.2m) . I. Thiago‘s (£3.6m) brace of goals makes him the sole striker in the Team of the Week and moves him up to second best Striker in the game.

Time to take stock now before Week 12 and a busy pre-festive period where we’ll also get the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup:-

The Arsenal defence was breached twice this weekend and in the title race they’ll now be worried about the form of Man City who dominated the former Champions Liverpool at home. Both City and Liverpool have an easier run of fixtures now with third placed Chelsea also poised to capitalise – a huge game for Arsenal at Stamford Bridge to come in week 13, after they’ve navigated the North London derby in Week 12 !

It’s hard to pull out any recommendations from City, Liverpool and Chelsea (other than the Top points scorer of the season, E. Haaland (£8.3m) obviously 😆:-

J. Doku (£4.4m) was superb and player of the match against Liverpool but he didn’t even make our Team of the Week ! and has been very inconsistent aswell as being a ‘minutes risk’ due to Pep roulette. P. Neto (£3.9m) is marked as an injury risk but played and scored against Wolves – however he’s classified as a Forward as opposed to a Midfielder and there are better forward options available… ?

Newcastle are still top of the forthcoming fixture difficulty list with B. Guimaraes (£4.2m) and N. Woltemade (£4.5m) making good differentiators :-

Brentford’s fixture list (at home at least!) looks pretty good also making I. Thiago (£3.6m) well worthy of consideration.

And, we do have to mention again the awful pun title of last week’s blog, D. Gomez (£2.6m) – another 3 points has taken him to top of the Midfielders with 7 goals now scored this season (5 of them in the Cup but, hey they count also!) and at just £2.6m he is the best value player in the game and thus a great ‘enabler’ :-
